For life gate fire decline and absence of yang within yin, add Aconite Lateral Root and Ginseng; for external contraction of wind-cold where the pathogen has not deeply entered but fever and body pain are present, add 6g of Bupleurum; for cold congealing with yin exuberance making pathogenic qi difficult to resolve, add 6g of Ephedra; for a constitution with yin exuberance and external contraction of cold pathogen, with aversion to cold and thin pulse, add 3-6g of Asarum, and in severe cases, add an additional 3-6g of Aconite Lateral Root, or also add Bupleurum to assist; for yin deficiency with internal heat, it is advisable to remove ginger and cinnamon, use the three herbs, or add Ginseng; for spleen and kidney deficiency with water flooding to form phlegm, or vomiting or distension, add 4.5g of Poria, or add 1.5g of white mustard seed; for persistent diarrhea, use less Chinese Angelica or remove it, and add Chinese Yam, Hyacinth Bean, Evodia Fruit, Malaytea Scurfpea Fruit, Nutmeg, Aconite Lateral Root, etc.; for pain in the waist and abdomen, add Eucommia Bark and Barbary Wolfberry Fruit; for abdominal distension and fullness with pain, add Dried Tangerine Peel, Aucklandia Root, Villous Amomum Fruit, etc.
