In cases of inherent yin deficiency, or occasional exposure to wind-cold due to insufficient blood in the liver meridian; or when the pathogenic influence is not deep and can be treated with both tonification and dispersion; or for common colds occurring after illness or childbirth, where the use of dispersing agents is appropriate but the blood and qi are too weak to facilitate outward expulsion.
