bubble_chart Formula Principles

In the formula, Chicken's Gizzard-Skin, which is the spleen and stomach of the chicken, can digest sand and stones; borax can soften metals and dissolve bones stuck in the throat, thus it is also effective in breaking down hard substances; mirabilite, as stated in the Benjing, can dissolve seventy-two types of stones; and niter, as mentioned in the Bielu, can also dissolve seventy-two types of stones. All these herbs have the function of breaking down and dissolving, but there is a concern that they might harm the original qi, so Astragalus Root is added to tonify the qi aspect. When the qi aspect is strong, it can better transport and transform the medicinal effects. However, strangury often involves stagnant heat, so Anemarrhena and Peony Root are also added to clear heat and enrich yin.
