Decoct the above ingredients with 300 ml of water until reduced to 210 ml, and take before meals.

Mania has persisted for a long time, with water failing to control fire, slight deficiency of the heart and kidneys, and liver depression with qi stagnation. Symptoms include mental derangement, occasional mania, speech without regard for closeness or distance, improper behavior, inability to distinguish between cleanliness and filth, unpredictable mood swings, gradual reduction of manic tendencies, accompanied by mental fatigue, occasional dysphoria, emaciation with a red face, red tongue texture, and a wiry and slippery or wiry and thin pulse. It also treats emotional distress leading to gradual dementia, incoherent speech, abnormal behavior, or profuse sweating, or those prone to melancholy.

For those with excessive phlegm and depression, add 6g of Fritillaria Bulb; for those with abundant phlegm and fire, add 4.5g of Arisaema cum Bile; for those with excessive Yangming fire and internal heat causing mania, add 6-9g of Gypsum; for those with constipation, fullness, and excessive heat, add 6-9g of Natrii Sulfas Exsiccatus, or temporarily add Rhubarb Rhizoma if necessary; for those with qi deficiency and mental fatigue, add Ginseng as appropriate.
