bubble_chart Composition

5 large river snails (shelled, strung and sun-dried), 3.6 gm of white arsenic (wrapped in flour and simmered until cooked), 0.3 gm of borneol, 0.6 gm of sal ammoniac.

bubble_chart Preparation and Dosage

Slice the conch meat and grind it into a fine powder with white arsenic. Add sal ammoniac and borneol, and grind again. Store in a small, tightly sealed jar. When using, first apply moxibustion with moxa cones to the scrofulous node seven times until blisters form. Prick the blisters with a small needle, take 0.03 to 0.06 grams of the medicinal powder, mix it with saliva to form a paste, and apply it to the top of the moxibustion site. Cover the scrofulous node with cotton paper to prevent movement and loss of efficacy. After seven days, cracks will appear around the edges; after another seven days, the node will fall off on its own. Then apply Yuhong Ointment and take tonics internally to aid in healing.

bubble_chart Indications

For long-standing scrofula with hard nodules that do not dissipate, or when other dissolving medications are ineffective, this formula can be used to remove the scrofulous nodules. It also treats goiters and tumors that are large with small stalks, as well as various protrusions and abnormal growths that are difficult to describe.

bubble_chart Cautions and Contraindications

Contraindicated for cervical malignancy with cachexia and large root with small surface of the saber.
