Chenpi and Huangbai (wine-fried), each 0.9 gm; Shengma (coarse bark-removed) and Chaihu (de-reeded), each 1.2 gm; Renshen, Gancao (roasted), and Cangzhu, each 1.8 gm (soaked in rice water); Huangqi, 3 gm; Chuanxiong, 1.8 gm; Manjingzi, 0.9 gm (pounded and peeled); Xixin, 0.6 gm. (Another prescription contains Muxiang, 0.6 gm, without Huangbai.)

Finely chop the above ingredients to make one dose. Boil with 300 ml of water until reduced to 150 ml, remove the dregs, and administer while warm.

Qi and blood deficiency headache.

If there is difficulty in defecation with a sensation of incomplete evacuation, or a feeling of urgency and discomfort in the abdomen, this is due to blood deficiency and blood stasis. Add 1.5 grams of Chinese Angelica root.
