bubble_chart Composition Cinnabar, realgar, each 6 gm; mercury 30 gm; borax 15 gm; fire sand, table salt, alum, vitriol, each 45 gm.
bubble_chart Preparation and Dosage
First, finely grind the three ingredients: cinnabar, realgar, and borax. Then, mix them evenly with salt, alum, nitre, soap, and mercury until the mercury is no longer visible. Take a Yangcheng jar and place it over a low charcoal fire. Slowly pour the mixture into the jar, allowing it to melt completely. Use a gentle flame to dry it, then remove it. If the fire is too strong and the mixture dries too quickly, the mercury will evaporate. If it's not dry enough, the mixture will collapse and become useless. This is the tricky part. Next, cover the jar with another Yangcheng jar. Cut cotton paper into half-inch strips. Grind jar clay, straw sandal ash, and talc into a fine powder, then mix with brine to form a very wet paste. Apply layers of paste and paper alternately, sealing the mouth with four to five layers and covering the jar containing the mixture with two to three layers. Dig a small pit in the ground and place a rice bowl filled with water at the bottom. Place the empty jar into the bowl, and use tiles to cover the pit's edges, ensuring they are level with the ground to prevent charcoal ash from falling into the bowl. Cover the jar containing the mixture with raw charcoal, leaving no gaps. After approximately three incense sticks' worth of time, remove the fire and allow it to cool before opening. You should obtain about 30 grams. If green smoke appears during the process, quickly use a brush dipped in the jar's salt-clay mixture to seal it. Use a small amount each time (0.15 grams for large sores, 0.03 to 0.06 grams for small sores), mixed with clean water and applied to the sore, or prepared into a medicinal thread and inserted into the sore. For new sores, it will immediately disperse and reduce swelling. For sores with pus, it will cause them to rupture, and for decaying sores, it will eliminate the decay and reduce swelling.
