bubble_chart Composition

Angelica root (washed with wine), Rehmannia glutinosa, Cyperus rotundus (cooked with child's urine), each 120 gm; dried Chinese yam, Atractylodes macrocephala, each 75 gm; Lycium barbarum, Panax ginseng, each 60 gm; Artemisia argyi 60 gm (de-stemmed, tendons removed, cooked with aged vinegar and old wine for one hour, mashed and baked dry); Ligusticum chuanxiong, Paeonia lactiflora, Paeonia suffruticosa, Fluorite (calcined and quenched), each 45 gm; Lycopus lucidus 30 gm; one placenta (washed in clean water to remove impurities, purple tendons removed with a silver needle).

bubble_chart Preparation and Dosage

The above ingredients, including the sliced herbs and placenta, are placed in an earthenware pot. Add 750 ml of aged rice wine, 250 ml of aged rice vinegar, 250 ml of clear child's urine, and 750 ml of rice-washed water. Mix well and pour into the pot, ensuring the liquid covers the herbs by about an inch. If more liquid is needed, add additional rice-washed water. Seal the pot tightly and simmer over a slow fire using mulberry wood until the placenta dissolves and the liquid evaporates. Once done, remove the mixture and pound it into a paste in a stone mortar. Shape the paste into cakes and expose them to sunlight during the day and dew at night for three days and nights. After drying, bake and grind into powder. Mix with honey to form pills as large as phoenix tree seeds. Take 50 pills initially, gradually increasing to 90 pills, administered with light salt water before meals.
