bubble_chart Concept

Innominate swelling pain refers to a type of swelling and toxicity that can occur on any part of the body surface. Yixue Rumen.Innominate swelling pain》"...It is neither a carbuncle, nor an ulcer, nor a sore, nor a tinea. It resembles a malignant sore, sometimes healing and sometimes worsening, hence it is called innominate swelling pain."

bubble_chart Pattern Analysis

  1. External Contractionwind-cold︰Local diffuse swelling, rootless and headless, hard to the touch, white in color without heat, accompanied by dull pain. Systemic manifestations may include aversion to cold with fever, white tongue coating, and a tight-rapid or slow-tight pulse. After ulceration, the pus is thin and clear, difficult to heal. It belongs to the yin pattern, caused by external wind-cold pathogens attacking the exterior, leading to stagnation of Jingmai. Key diagnostic points: local diffuse swelling and hardness, headless and rootless, neither red nor hot, with intermittent dull pain. Systemic manifestations may include aversion to cold with fever, white tongue coating, and a tight-rapid or tight-slow pulse. After ulceration, the pus is thin and clear, difficult to heal. For cases with initial exterior pattern, treatment should focus on releasing the exterior to induce sweating, and Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia Toxin-Vanquishing Powder can be used. For cases with deficiency of both qi and blood after ulceration, treatment should focus on regulating and tonifying qi and blood, and Eight Precious Ingredients Decoction can be used.
  2. Accumulation of Heat Toxin︰Localized redness and swelling with distinct boundaries, burning pain. Accompanied by systemic fever, thirst, yellow tongue coating, and rapid pulse. Before the swelling subsides, a pus head may appear and rupture, discharging thick yellow pus, and healing once the pus is drained. It belongs to the yang pattern, mostly caused by excessive consumption of rich and fatty foods, internal accumulation of dampness-heat fire toxin, or external contraction of the six excesses or external injuries, exposure to toxic qi, leading to the stagnation of pathogenic toxins, resulting in disharmony between nutrient and defensive qi, meridian blockage, and stagnation of qi and blood. Key points of pattern identification: obvious localized redness, swelling, heat, and pain, presence of a pus head, discharge of thick yellow pus after rupture, and healing once the pus is drained. Systemic symptoms may include fever, thirst, yellow tongue coating, and rapid pulse. Treatment should aim to disperse wind, clear heat, promote blood circulation, and resolve stasis. Immortal Formula Life-Saving Decoction can be used.
