- Dampness-heat︰The leukorrhea is excessive, yellow-green like pus, with a foul odor, accompanied by vulvar itching or a stabbing pain sensation, and symptoms worsen during menstruation. Alternatively, the leukorrhea may be thick and sticky like pus, with a foul smell, lower abdominal dragging pain, a sensation of heat during urination, a thin yellow tongue coating, a red or normal tongue texture, and a soggy, rapid pulse. This condition is often caused by spleen deficiency leading to downward leakage, prolonged stagnation transforming into heat, dampness-heat accumulating in the Conception Vessel, or infection by pathogenic parasites that erode the vagina. The leukorrhea is dark in color, thick in texture, and foul-smelling, accompanied by lower abdominal dragging pain or vaginal stabbing pain, a sensation of heat during urination, a yellow tongue coating, and a rapid pulse. The treatment focuses on clearing heat and draining dampness, expelling pus, and stopping leukorrhea. The recommended formula is Modified Pus-Draining Decoction. If vulvar itching is present, add densefruit pittany root-bark and winged euonymus, and additionally use Cnidium Fruit Powder decoction for fumigation and washing of the vulva.
- Qi Deficiency︰Yellowish leukorrhea persists for a long time, with a large amount and thin consistency, pale yellow color and no odor. Menstruation is irregular, often prolonged, accompanied by soreness in the waist and weakness in the legs, poor appetite, and possible swelling in the face and lower limbs. The tongue coating is thin and white, and the pulse is weak and slow. This condition is caused by prolonged yellowish leukorrhea that fails to heal, further depleting spleen qi. The key points of differentiation are: leukorrhea that is pale in color, thin in texture, and odorless, along with symptoms such as soreness in the waist, weakness in the legs, reduced appetite, and swelling. The treatment focuses on tonifying the spleen and replenishing qi, raising yang to stop leukorrhea. The prescription used is Middle-Tonifying Qi-Replenishing Decoction with the addition of Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruit.
bubble_chart Documentation
- Fuqingzhu Gynecology-Leukorrheal Disease: "Dampness is the qi of earth, an invasion of water; heat is the qi of fire, generated by wood. The color of water is originally black, and the color of fire is originally red. Now, when dampness and heat combine, they desire to transform into red but cannot, and wish to return to black but fail. They are thus煎熬成汁, turning into yellow. This is because they do not follow the transformation of water and fire, but rather undergo dampness transformation. Hence, people in the world who regard yellowish leukorrhea as spleen dampness-heat and treat only the spleen without achieving a cure, do not understand that true water and true fire combine to form dan evil and yuan evil, which circulate around the Conception Vessel and the uterus, transforming into this黅色. How can treating only the spleen lead to a cure! The treatment should focus on tonifying the deficiency of the Conception Vessel and clearing kidney fire, then it may be effective."
