bubble_chart Modern Pharmacology
This product contains triterpenoid saponins, among other components. Saponins can stimulate the gastric mucosa, reflexively promoting the secretion of respiratory mucus, thereby exerting a phlegm-dispelling effect. The decoction has an excitatory effect on the isolated rat uterus and exhibits inhibitory effects against Trichophyton violaceum and Nocardia asteroides. The large amount of saponins contained in Chinese Honeylocust Fruit not only stimulate the gastrointestinal mucosa, causing vomiting and diarrhea, but also corrode the gastric mucosa, leading to absorption poisoning and even systemic toxicity, causing hemolysis. It particularly affects the central nervous system, initially causing convulsions followed by paralysis, and ultimately death due to respiratory center paralysis.
Chinese Honeylocust Fruit Thorn: The thorn of the Chinese Honeylocust Fruit tree, also known as Chinese Honeylocust Fruit needle. It has a pungent and warm nature. Its functions include reducing swelling, expelling pus, dispelling wind, and killing worms. It is used for initial stages of abscesses and sores, cases where pus has formed but not ruptured, as well as skin ringworm and leprosy. For decoction, use 8-10 grams. For external use, apply an appropriate amount of vinegar decoction to the affected area. It should not be used on ulcers that have already ruptured.
