Boil the above ingredients with 300 ml of water until reduced to 210 ml, take before meals. Decoct the dregs again and take, or use yin-yang water.

Yang deficiency often presents with cold symptoms; add Dried Ginger and Cassia Bark, and in severe cases, add Prepared Aconite Lateral Root. Yin deficiency often presents with heat symptoms, thirst, and a preference for cold; add Ophiopogon Tuber, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root, and Peony Root, and in severe cases, add Anemarrhena or Skullcap Root. Kidney yin deficiency, where water fails to control fire, leads to restlessness, weakness, soreness in the lower back, and weak legs, or spleen deficiency with stuffiness; add Prepared Rehmannia Root, Barbary Wolfberry Fruit, Chinese Yam, and Eucommia Bark. If pathogenic factors remain unresolved and linger, making recovery difficult, add Bupleurum, Ephedra, Asarum, and Perilla Leaf. For stagnation of qi and blood, either decoct with 200 ml each of wine and water, or drink a few cups of wine after taking the medicine.
