bubble_chart Overview

Post-Hepatitis Syndrome is a combination of diseases characterized by autonomic nervous system disorders that occur after the recovery from viral hepatitis, also known as Convalescent Hepatitis Syndrome.

bubble_chart Etiology

This disease evolves from acute sexually transmitted viral hepatitis. Currently, all five types of hepatitis (A, B, C, D, and E) can cause it, but types A, B, and C are the most common. Its occurrence is often related to the patient's neurotype, being more prevalent in individuals who are sensitive, easily agitated, or prone to excessive worry. Symptoms may lessen or disappear after explanation and psychological treatment, suggesting that post-hepatitis syndrome is associated with autonomic nervous system dysfunction following hepatitis recovery.

bubble_chart Clinical Manifestations

After contracting acute sexually transmitted disease viral hepatitis, most patients recover within a few months with treatment, experiencing the disappearance of digestive symptoms and the normalization of liver size and function. However, a small number of patients may continue to exhibit persistent symptoms such as systemic lack of strength, dizziness, head distension, chest tightness, flusteredness, insomnia with dreamfulness, easy fatigue and sweating, poor appetite, and dull pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen or right hypochondrium. These symptoms are related to emotional states, fluctuating in severity, and can persist for several months to years. Liver biopsy pathological examinations during this seasonal epidemic show no abnormal findings.

bubble_chart Treatment Measures

Since this disease is a functional change following hepatitis, the treatment mainly involves symptomatic management. This includes psychological adjustment, appropriate increase in physical activity, and the use of medications such as B vitamins, vitamin C, oryzanol, and Manyprickle Acanthopanax. Small doses of sedatives that do not harm the liver may also be used.

The prognosis of this disease is good.
