bubble_chart Overview Thrush is caused by Candida albicans infection and is commonly seen in newborns, malnourished children, those with rickets or digestive disorders, as well as infants and young children who have been on long-term broad-spectrum antibiotics. Most cases are transmitted through contaminated utensils.
bubble_chart Diagnosis
On the lips, cheeks, tongue, soft and hard palate, and pharyngeal mucosa, milky white patches can be seen that are not easily wiped off. When forcibly removed, the patches reveal a red and rough mucosal surface. Microscopic examination of the patches reveals fungal hyphae and spores.
bubble_chart Treatment Measures
Apply 1% gentian violet locally once or twice daily. For extensive lesions, use nystatin powder topically. Maintain utensil hygiene, strengthen constitution, and avoid prolonged, excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
