bubble_chart Overview Dyspareunia refers to genital pain experienced by men or women during sexual intercourse. Its prevalence in the general population remains unclear.
bubble_chart Etiology
Pain during intercourse is often associated with local pathological conditions, while some cases have no obvious organic basis, with emotional factors being particularly significant.
bubble_chart Diagnosis
The diagnostic criteria for dyspareunia in CCMD-2-R are:
(1) Sexual intercourse causes pain in the genitals of men or women.
(2) It is not caused by local lesions, nor by vaginal dryness or vaginal spasm.
bubble_chart Treatment Measures
The principle of treating this disease is to actively address the disease cause while providing necessary psychological therapy.
(1) Treatment of disease cause: For cases caused by local pathological changes, the pain will naturally disappear once the local lesions are cured. Psychogenic dyspareunia is often accompanied by vagina spasms, and the dyspareunia will also be cured once the vagina spasms are treated.
(2) Psychological therapy: Some cases of dyspareunia may be due to incorrect sexual techniques or sexual anxiety. In such cases, guidance on sexual intercourse and alleviation of sexual anxiety should be provided.
