smart_toy
bubble_chart Overview

It refers to the phenomenon caused by improper qigong practice, such as excessive daily practice or prolonged periods in a qigong state without proper conclusion, characterized by impaired thinking, emotions, and behavior, as well as a loss of self-control.

bubble_chart Diagnosis

I. Medical History and Symptoms:

(1) Onset occurred after qigong practice.

(2) Main manifestations include sensory disturbances and mental disorders. Sensory disturbances refer to the patient's subjective perception of being able to sense the "qi" emitted by others and their own "qi" affecting those around them, accompanied by limb numbness and a sensation of soreness and distension. Mental disorders manifest as speech disorganization, auditory hallucinations, delusions of persecution or control, schizophrenia-like mental disorders, hysteria-like syndrome, and neurosis-like syndrome, among other symptoms.

II. Physical Examination Findings:

No positive signs of organic disease.

III. Differential Diagnosis:

Should be differentiated from hysteria and schizophrenia. Distinguishing it from hysteria can sometimes be challenging and should primarily rely on the characteristics of the medical history.

bubble_chart Treatment Measures

First, the practice of qigong should be stopped, and medical treatment and psychological therapy should be administered (refer to the treatment of hysteria). The focus should be on prevention, and individuals with poor constitution or a history of mental illness should avoid qigong exercises.
