bubble_chart Overview

It is a localized non-specific proliferative tumor-like lesion after pulmonary infection, with pathological tissue changes mainly composed of fibroblasts, various inflammatory cells, histiocytes, and vascular components.

bubble_chart Diagnosis

1. Medical history and symptoms:

Most have a history of respiratory tract infection, which may present with no clinical symptoms or intermittent episodes of fever, cough, expectoration, and occasionally hemoptysis.

2. Physical examination findings:

Most show no positive signs. In cases of respiratory tract infection, fever may be present, and auscultation of the lungs may reveal dry or moist rales.

3. Auxiliary examinations:

Chest X-ray and CT scans may show solitary round or oval masses with diameters of 1–6 cm, of medium density, uniform texture, and indistinct margins. A few cases may exhibit pleural adhesion shadows, with most lesions located in the periphery of the lung. For cases with diagnostic difficulty or when malignancy cannot be ruled out, thoracotomy or transthoracic lung biopsy should be performed.

4. Differential diagnosis:

Differentiation should be made from lung cancer and other benign lung tumors.

bubble_chart Treatment Measures

Patients with respiratory symptoms should receive anti-infective treatment. For lesions that are difficult to distinguish between benign and malignant, surgical resection should be performed as early as possible.
