bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula is derived from Pueraria Decoction with the addition of Gypsum, Magnolia, Rhubarb Rhizoma, Coix Seed, and Platycodon Root. In this formula, Pueraria Decoction is used to induce sweating and release the exterior, promote fluid production and relax the meridians to expel external pathogens. Nasal diseases are often caused by external contraction of wind-cold, so the treatment should first focus on releasing the exterior. The addition of Coix Seed and Platycodon Root serves to guide the medicine upward and also to drain pus and resolve swelling. Rhubarb Rhizoma is used to purge internal dampness-heat and reduce swelling and congestion of the nasal mucous membrane. Gypsum promotes fluid production and clears lung fire. Magnolia is particularly effective in relieving a stuffy nose and dispersing cold pathogens. Together, these herbs work synergistically to induce sweating and release the exterior, relieve stuffy orifices, clear heat, promote fluid production, and remove toxins. This formula is suitable for nasal diseases accompanied by internal heat.
