Rhubarb Rhizoma is added to purge fire and promote bowel movement, allowing heat to exit through the stool. Mentha, Chrysanthemum Flower, Pueraria Root, and Sichuan Lovage Rhizome clear and disperse wind-heat in the upper energizer, improve vision, and relieve headache. For smallpox, Turmeric and Chinese Angelica tail invigorate the blood to unblock meridians and reduce boils and sores. Scrophularia Root, Forsythia, and Platycodon Root enrich yin, clear heat, and benefit the pharynx. These herbs are combined into a pill to clear heat and remove toxins, disperse wind and fire, invigorate blood to resolve carbuncles, and gradually alleviate symptoms as the heat toxin is resolved.
