Wenbing Tiaobian‧Upper Energizer Chapter‧Dampness Warm Disease, Cold-Dampness: "(1) Headache, aversion to cold, heavy body pain, white tongue without thirst, wiry and fine pulse, pale yellow complexion, chest tightness without hunger, afternoon fever, resembling yin deficiency, the disease is difficult to resolve quickly, known as dampness warm disease. Sweating leads to unconsciousness and deafness, and in severe cases, closed eyes and unwillingness to speak. Purgation results in profuse diarrhea. Moistening leads to a deep and unresolved illness. The same method applies to late summer, deep autumn, and winter, and the Three-Kernel Decoction is the main treatment."

The formula uses Bitter Apricot Seed to disperse and regulate the lung qi of the upper energizer, facilitating qi transformation to aid in dampness transformation; White Cardamom Seed opens the damp stagnation of the middle energizer, transforming turbidity and dispersing the center; Coix Seed benefits the spleen by eliminating dampness, allowing damp-heat to be expelled downward. These three herbs are the main components, hence the name "Three Seeds." Assisted by Pinellia and Magnolia Bark to remove dampness and relieve stuffiness, moving qi to disperse fullness; Ricepaperplant Pith, Talc, and Bamboo Leaf clear and drain damp-heat. When these herbs are combined, they form a formula that disperses the upper, unblocks the middle, and promotes purgation, achieving the effects of clearing heat and draining dampness, as well as dispersing damp turbidity.

This formula regulates gastrointestinal motility and secretion, has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, diuretic, and analgesic effects.
