It was reported that the patient had recently stopped menstruating at Riyue (GB24), walked barefoot in cold water, and caught a chill. At the time, there were no other symptoms, but by night, abdominal pain began, which worsened by the morning, accompanied by vomiting and vertigo, making it impossible to get out of bed. The pulse was slow (56 beats per minute) and thin, the tongue was pale with a white coating, there was no thirst, no desire to eat or drink, and no fever (body temperature 36°C). The diagnosis was a cold pattern, and treatment was aimed at warming and dispersing. A decoction of Liquorice Root and Dried Ginger, 5 qian each, was prescribed and taken warm. After one dose, the abdominal pain subsided, and the vertigo and vomiting completely stopped. A follow-up visit the next day showed a pulse rate of 78 beats per minute, with complete recovery.
