bubble_chart Content Mr. Rui, male, 54 years old. Initial consultation on October 28, 1974. Experiencing dry and sore throat, unable to produce any sound when attempting to speak for 3 days. Physically thin, tongue texture red with white and dry coating. Pulse deep, wiry, and thin, with a history of lumbago. Currently experiencing dry mouth and desire to drink water. The throat is associated with the lung and kidney meridians, with lung dryness damaging fluids and kidney yin failing to nourish. Treatment should focus on nourishing yin and reducing fire, using Fluid-Increasing Decoction with modifications and Pig Skin Decoction from the "Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases" concurrently. After 6 days, thirst reduced, but hoarseness and inability to speak persisted, so treatment was switched to Pig Skin Decoction alone.
30g of pig skin, fried until crispy in fragrant oil, cut into 1cm×1cm pieces, 30g of rice, add 800ml of water, simmer over mild fire until the rice is thoroughly cooked, then add 60ml of honey, simmer briefly until the honey is evenly dissolved in the water, then remove from heat. Take warm in three to four doses. Treated in this manner, the condition was cured after a total of 20 days.
