Zhang, female, 39 years old, first consultation on October 25, 1985. Thirteen years ago, she suffered from postpartum hemorrhage, which was treated and the bleeding stopped. Half a year later, she experienced pain in the entire area from the shoulder to the wrist of the right upper limb, which gradually worsened and became unbearable during the midnight hours of Zi and Chou. Current symptoms: severe pain during the midnight hours of Zi and Chou, difficulty sleeping, profuse sweating that wets clothes, feverish feeling in palms and soles, nausea, pale and swollen tongue with thick white greasy coating, deep and slow weak pulse. The syndrome is attributed to kidney yang deficiency, internal cold-dampness, multiple abscess meridian and collateral, obstructing qi and blood, causing pain due to obstruction. Prepared Aconite Lateral Root 30g (to be decocted first for 30 minutes) Poria 18g Tangshen 20g Charred White Atractylodes Rhizome 12g Red Peony Root 12g
Decocted with water and taken. One dose reduced the pain, and after taking 30 doses consecutively, all symptoms were resolved. Follow-up to date shows no recurrence.
