A man in his prime could only manage to eat one or two liang of food daily, without emaciation due to improper food and without hunger. He had undergone various treatments, including spleen-strengthening and digestion-promoting medications, all to no avail.

The patient did not experience belching or vomiting, his body was not emaciated, and his speech and actions were normal. He complained of slight fullness and discomfort. His pulse was slightly wiry and slow, his tongue texture was normal, and his tongue coating was thin and white but very sticky. Considering that a wiry pulse indicates fluid retention and a slow pulse indicates cold, the sticky tongue coating suggested stomach cold with turbidity. He was treated with Evodia Decoction plus Medicated Leaven for a trial. Evodia Fruit was used at 15g. The next day, the patient reported a significant improvement in appetite. He was instructed to take another dose to consolidate the effect.

Upon reflection, the patient's slight fullness and discomfort were actually a mild form of the "vomiting with chest fullness" described in the Evodia Decoction syndrome in the "Jingui Yaolue: Vomiting, Hiccup, Diarrhea" chapter.
