title | Zhang Haifeng's Medical Cases |
Zhang, male, 47 years old, visited in March 1973. Stool similar to sheep's feces, occurring once every few days, persisting for four to five months. Abdominal distension and discomfort, a sensation of tightness around the waist, more pronounced distension and discomfort in the lower left abdomen, fluctuating appetite, and weakness in the limbs. Outwardly robust appearance, tongue coating white and thick with a more pronounced center, pulse wiry and slippery with strength. Western medical diagnosis: "intestinal functional disorder." Pattern differentiation: stagnation of intestinal intermediate qi. Treatment method: moving qi to unblock the intestines. Prescription:
Magnolia Bark 25g, Immature Orange Fruit 9g, Rhubarb Rhizoma 9g (to be taken infused), fried radish seed 16g
. Follow-up: After taking 3 doses, bowel movements became smoother, abdominal distension and fullness slightly reduced, tongue and pulse as before. Modified the original prescription: Rhubarb Rhizoma changed to 12g, Magnolia Bark changed to 19g, added Lindera Root 16g, Aucklandia Root 9g (to be decocted later). After 3 doses, several bowel movements occurred, abdominal distension and fullness completely resolved, tongue coating completely cleared, spirit and appetite returned to normal. Resumed work, no recurrence thereafter.
