bubble_chart Content During a consultation discussion on severe type B encephalitis, Mr. Pu Fu-zhou and his colleagues analyzed the patient's condition: high fever with burning hands, chest and abdominal stuffiness and fullness, no bowel movement for three days, deep and rapid pulse, yellow and greasy tongue coating, suggesting the possibility of purgation. Mr. Pu, however, stood against the majority opinion, pointing out that although there was stuffiness and fullness, it was not firm; the pulse was not deep and solid but slippery at both chi positions; the tongue coating was not old yellow but thick and greasy. He argued that a bowel movement would occur naturally without the need for purgation. Just as the analysis was becoming more detailed and opinions were converging, a nurse reported that loose stool had already been passed. All present were deeply impressed by Mr. Pu's insight.
