On the 13th day of the first month of the Renxu year, Jueluo, 62 years old, a drunkard, suffering from phlegm-fluid retention asthma, with a pulse that is wiry, tight, and rapid, urgently treated with Minor Bluegreen Dragon Decoction minus Ephedra and Asarum, plus Immature Orange Fruit Tangerine Peel Decoction. No response, severe right hypochondriac pain, indicating pleural fluid retention, hence the ineffectiveness of the Minor Bluegreen Dragon Decoction for thoracic fluid retention. Should be treated with Ten Jujubes Decoction, but as Ten Jujubes is too drastic, Drool-Controlling Pill was used instead.
Gansui Root five qian, Peking Euphorbia Root five qian, white mustard seed five qian
All ground into fine powder, made into pills the size of Wuzi (Chinese parasol tree seeds) with Medicated Leaven flour and water paste. Initially take thirteen pills, if no effect, gradually increase to twenty-one pills, until a quick bowel movement with black-green water is achieved. After three doses, the fluid was expelled and the asthma stopped, followed by stomach harmonization to complete the treatment.
