I diagnosed it as an overlap of Taiyang (EX-HN5) and shaoyang qi depression, with signs of overlapping diseases. Avoiding the use of Ephedra and Cinnamon Twig to adhere to the warning against inducing sweating and delirious speech in shaoyang, I prescribed a modified version of the original Minor Bupleurum Decoction in a larger dose. After taking just one dose, the patient suddenly experienced chills and uncontrollable shaking of the limbs, with a deep and hidden pulse. Observing the symptoms and checking the pulse, I recognized that this was a sign of "shiver sweating" and an indication that the body was expelling the pathogenic factors. I advised him to drink a cup of hot water, and soon the chills turned to heat, followed by profuse sweating all over the body, leading to a complete recovery.
