A woman, over forty years old, had suffered from migraines for five to seven years. Each time she experienced pain, her stool would become dry and accumulate like pellets, accompanied by red eyes, vertigo, and blurred vision, making it difficult to see distant objects. Many doctors treated her, and although the pain slightly improved, her stool became slightly more constipated, and her vision became increasingly blurred. One day, she consulted Dai Ren. Dai Ren examined the pulses on both her wrists, which were rapid, tense, and forceful, indicating the presence of wind-heat. This was due to the dominance of the Triple Energizer Ministerial Fire meridian and the Yangming Dry Metal. The dominance of Dry Metal overwhelmed the liver, causing liver qi stagnation. When liver qi stagnates, qi and blood become congested, leading to blockages in the upper and lower body, resulting in dryness accumulation internally. Thus, Dai Ren prescribed Major Purgative Decoction with an additional one liang of Mirabilite. The decoction was boiled and served warm, divided into three to five doses, to be consumed consecutively. This purged the accumulated filth, dryness, and heat from the intestines, resulting in over twenty bouts of diarrhea that flowed like hot water. The pain diminished with each bout of diarrhea. After repeating this treatment three times, her vision cleared, her head felt lighter, and the dryness and stagnation were resolved.
