Cheng Liu-ru (1904–1985), courtesy name Leng'an, pseudonym Lexian, was a native of Shimen (CV5), She County. At the age of 22, he went to Wuxing, Zhejiang, to study medicine at the "Zhejiang Chinese Medicine Training School" run by Shen Yifu. He graduated at 26 and returned to his hometown, establishing a clinic in Yucun, Xiuning. On October 19, 1936, he moved to Tunxi. Initially renowned for his expertise in external medicine, he later excelled in internal and pediatric medicine as well. Cheng was known for his noble medical ethics, extensive knowledge, and superb medical skills. In 1935, he was invited as a contributing writer by the "Guanghua Medical Magazine" in Shanghai. By the end of the same year, he became the editor of the "Xin'an Medical Biweekly" in the "Huizhou Daily" and focused on collecting historical materials on Xin'an medicine.
