bubble_chart Description Chen Shi-duo, courtesy name Jingzhi, alias Yuangong, also known as Zhuhua Zi and Lian Gong, self-styled as the Master of Daya Hall. He was a native of Shanyin, Zhejiang (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang), born around the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty and passed away during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty. Chen 's grandfather was a physician, who had a penchant for alchemy and left behind a family secret medical text. Chen studied Confucianism in his youth, initially becoming a local scholar. Later, failing to achieve success in the official career, he abandoned the pursuit of scholarly honors and devoted himself to the study of medicine, inheriting his family's profession and gaining fame as a physician. He authored numerous works throughout his life. According to the "Shanyin County Annals" from the eighth year of Jiaqing (1803): "Chen Shi-duo, a local scholar, was known for his miraculous cures and never accepted payment for his medical services. He passed away at the age of eighty. His works include 'Neijing Suwen Shanglun', 'Lingshu Xinbian', 'Waijing Weiyan', 'Bencao Xinbian', 'zang-fu organ Jingjian', 'Maijue Chanwei', 'Shishi Milu', 'Bianzheng Lu', 'Bianzheng Yuhan', 'Liuqi Xinbian', 'Waike Dongtian', 'Shanghan Sitiao Bian', 'Yingru Zhengzhi', 'Shanghan Zhimi', 'Lidai Yishi', 'Qiongji Milu', 'Huangting Jingzhu', 'Meihua Yishu', among others. Unfortunately, many of his works have been lost." The surviving works include 'Shishi Milu', 'Dongtian Aozhi', 'Bencao Xinbian', 'Bianzheng Lu', 'Bianzheng Yuhan', 'Maijue Chanwei', and 'Waijing Weiyan', among a few others.
