Professor Chen Yi-ren, male, Han ethnicity, born on July 5, 1924, in Shuyang, Jiangsu, is a renowned Chinese medicine practitioner and an expert in Chinese medicine cold-damage disease.
He has served as the Deputy Director of the Classical Medical Texts Teaching and Research Office at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and the Director of the Cold-Damage Disease Teaching and Research Office. Currently, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Cold-Damage Disease Teaching and Research Office of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, a distinguished Chinese medicine practitioner in Jiangsu Province, and the academic leader of the provincial key discipline in cold-damage disease. He also holds positions as a member of the Chinese Medicine Professional Textbook Compilation and Review Committee of the Ministry of Health, a member of the National Zhongjing Theory Research Association, and the Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Zhongjing Theory Research Association. He has been receiving special government allowances since 1992.
Engaged in Chinese medicine teaching and research for nearly 40 years, he has taught multiple courses including "Diagnostics of Chinese Medicine," "Warm Diseases," "Chinese Internal Medicine," and "Cold-Damage Disease Studies." His research on "Cold-Damage Disease Studies" is particularly profound, and he has developed a set of teaching methods suitable for high-level talent education in this field.
In addition to teaching and research, he has been dedicated to studying the patterns of diagnosis and treatment for difficult clinical diseases. He has accumulated extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and neurological disorders, hepatitis, gastrointestinal diseases, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In recent years, his research on the use of the warm purgation method to treat malignant tumors has achieved significant breakthroughs.
In the field of cold-damage disease theory research in mainland China, he is known as "Northern Liu and Southern Chen" alongside Professor Liu Du-zhou from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. His influence on cold-damage disease theory research in mainland China is profound. Dr. Liu Lihong, the author of "Thinking Chinese Medicine," was also a student of Professor Chen Yi-ren.
