Lived in the 16th century. Self-styled as Huayue Wuwei Daoren. Details of his origin and career are unknown. He authored Jiewei Yuansou, a book that compiles the data and clinical experiences passed down through three generations of the Shen family: his grandfather Shen Qiamei, his father Shen Shixuan, and himself. The book was completed in the 29th year of the Jiajing era (1550) and is a specialized work on leprosy. It offers many insightful views on the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention methods of leprosy, with rich content. Shen respected ancient teachings but did not rigidly adhere to them, advocating that "later generations should not be confined to the words on paper." He collected and verified prescriptions as he went, "searching extensively and testing those that were unusual before recording them." His rigorous scholarship contributed significantly to the understanding and treatment of leprosy and its causes.
