A physician of the Northern Wei during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period. His courtesy name was Sizu, and he was from Yangping Guantao (present-day Guantao, Hebei). His father, Li Liang, had studied medicine, and Li Xiu, along with his brother Yuansun, both practiced medicine. Li Xiu's medical skills surpassed those of his father and brother. Later, he joined the Liu Song dynasty, where he delved deeply into medical studies and made significant progress, emphasizing both acupuncture and herbal medicine with excellent therapeutic results. His prognostications for patients were often accurate. He once served as the Grand Physician and was commissioned to gather over a hundred scholars and skilled scribes at the Eastern Palace to compile over a hundred volumes of medical prescriptions, which were later lost. After his death, he was posthumously awarded the titles of General of Weiyuan and Governor of Qingzhou.
