He was a person during the Qi and Liang periods of the Southern Dynasties. Historical records mention him as Jin Yuan Yue or Jin Yuan Qi , which are considered erroneous characters. According to the Southern History: Biography of Wang Sengru , Quan Yuan-qi visited Wang Sengru regarding the matter of stone needles before annotating the Huangdi Neijing-Suwen . His annotations on Huangdi Suwen are the earliest known annotations on Suwen in China. Although the book is lost, during the Song Dynasty, Lin Dang and others, while collating the Huangdi Neijing , were still able to see his work and cited the sequence of chapter titles from his Neijing Suwen . Quan was highly skilled in medicine, and at that time, there was a saying, "If you get Yuan Qi , you will live; if you abandon him, you will die."
