Legend has it that in ancient times, the physician Huangdi's minister was skilled in the theory of the five elements. In the Tang Dynasty, Wang Bing annotated Suwen where Huangdi asked Guiyuqu, who replied: "Your minister has extensively studied the texts of the Tai Shi Tian Yuan Ce, which state: 'Guiyuqu's ancestor ten generations ago first recited and practiced them. These ancient divination texts were inscribed on royal tablets by the time of Fuxi and were named Ce Wen.'" From this, it can be inferred that Guiyuqu was a hereditary physician, ten generations after the era of Shennongshi.
