Chen, coming from a family of physicians, specialized in gynecology and obstetrics. He compiled the Furen Daquan Liangfang in 24 volumes by selecting the best practices from various schools and adding his family's proven prescriptions, which was published by the "Qin You Book House". The existing versions of this book include Xiong Zong-li's supplementary edition Furen Liangfang Bubian Daquan in 2 types and Xue Ji's annotated edition Jiaozhu Furen Liangfang in 5 types. A lead-printed edition was published by the Science and Health Publishing House in 1958.
The book, originally divided into 8 categories with over 260 discussions, was revised by Xue Ji Jiaozhu Furen Liangfang, who added and deleted some content, dividing it into ten categories. Each discussion is accompanied by annotations and mostly includes treatment experiences and new prescriptions. The book cites various medical texts, with Neijing and Zhubing Yuanhou Lun being its fundamental theoretical sources. The book first lists three categories on gynecology: "Regulating Menstruation", "Various Diseases", and "Seeking Offspring". The "Regulating Menstruation" section discusses the normal physiology of menstruation and various menstrual diseases and their treatments; the "Various Diseases" section discusses gynecological diseases and some internal diseases and anal and intestinal diseases in women; the "Seeking Offspring" section discusses methods of seeking offspring and treatments for infertility and sterility. Following these, it lists categories on obstetrics such as "Nourishing the Fetus", "Monitoring the Fetus", "Pregnancy", "Difficult Delivery", and "Postpartum", detailing fetal development, pregnancy diagnosis, prenatal care, medication contraindications during pregnancy, pregnancy-specific diseases, various difficult deliveries, puerperium care, and postpartum diseases. The book is a summary of previous achievements and the author's clinical experience, rich in content, forming a complete system both theoretically and practically, with high academic and practical value. It can be said to be the first comprehensive monograph on gynecology and obstetrics in China, and its circulation has made a significant contribution to the development of Chinese gynecology.
