Written by Wei Yi-lin in the Yuan Dynasty in the third year of Zhiyuan (1337), it was reviewed by the Taiyiyuan and published in 1345. The main extant versions include: the Yuan Dynasty Zhiyuan fifth year (1345) Jianning Road official medical supervisor Chen Zhi's engraved edition, the Ming Dynasty Zhengde first year (1506) Shulin Wei family's re-engraved edition, the Siku Quanshu edition, and the 1964 Shanghai Science and Technology Publishing House lead-printed edition.

This book consists of 19 volumes (the Siku Quanshu edition includes an additional volume of Qianjin Fang's Health Preservation Book, totaling 20 volumes). The content is arranged according to the 13 categories divided by the Taiyiyuan of the Yuan Dynasty: large formula pulse category, divided into 10 general discussions, 81 types of diseases; minor formula pulse category, divided into 2 general discussions, 66 types of diseases; wind category, divided into 3 general discussions, 7 types of diseases; obstetrics and gynecology category, divided into 6 general discussions, 27 types of diseases; ophthalmology category, divided into 2 general discussions, 8 types of diseases; oral and dental and throat category, divided into 1 general discussion, 5 types of diseases; bonesetting and metal arrow category, divided into 13 general discussions, 16 types of diseases; sore and swelling category, divided into 3 general discussions, 11 types of diseases; acupuncture and moxibustion category content is not listed separately, but scattered throughout the categories.

Although this book describes the diseases and their treatment methods and prescriptions for internal, external, gynecological, pediatric, five sense organs, and bone injury categories, its main achievement lies in the field of Orthopedics and Traumatology. It first recorded spinal fractures and invented the suspension reduction method and external fixation method, developed "kusnezoff monkshood root powder" as a general anesthetic, and made new progress in guiding medicinal anesthesia methods.
