Liu was proficient in the differentiation and treatment of various pestilence syndromes. Volume 1, "Narrating the Past," extensively collects the discussions of previous scholars on Wenyi Lun, clarifying the academic origins; Volume 2, "On Treatment," first lists 12 general principles, followed by eight methods of governing pestilence; Volume 3, "Miscellaneous Epidemics," compiles over 70 types of epidemics, with treatments including bloodletting, scraping, treatments for scarlatina, and medication precautions; Volume 4, "Resolving Doubts," analyzes 14 points of doubt regarding pestilence; Volume 5, "Various Prescriptions," contains over 120 prescriptions; Volume 6, "Fortune and Climate," explains the relationship between climate change and the onset of pestilence. This book inherits the Neijing's theory of fortune and follows Wu You-ke Wenyi Lun and other famous works on pestilence, categorizing pestilence into pestilence, cold pestilence, and miscellaneous epidemics. Liu proposed that the treatment of pestilence should be adaptable, and he pioneered the "Eight Methods of Governing Pestilence," which were widely circulated at the time. The original edition and several other editions are extant.
