It was written by Shen Jin-ao and is a major component of the Shen's Zunsheng Book. The book, totaling seventy-two volumes, also includes Pulse Manifestation Classification, Poems on the Diseases of Various Pulses, Cold-Damage Disease Discussion Gangmu, Fuke Yuchi, Pediatrics Interpretation Puzzles, Essential Medicine Classification, and others. This book is a specialized work in explaining Zabing, categorizing various Zabing according to zang-fu organ meridians and collaterals, wind-cold summerheat dampness dryness, internal injuries and external affections, and facial and bodily features. Each category is further divided into several disease patterns. It describes their origins, details their symptoms, examines their treatments, and prescribes formulas according to the disease, with principle-method-recipe-medicinal being quite consistent. The entire seven-part series was jointly published in Wuxi at Shen's Shijian Hall between 1773 and 1774, and there have been multiple joint or separate editions since then.
