bubble_chart Description Li Zhong-nan authored, in twenty-two volumes. Completed in 1331, initially compiled by Li Zhong-nan, later supplemented and revised by Sun Yunxian, originally titled "Xilei Qianfang", later renamed "Yonglei Qianfang". The main extant versions include the 1983 Peking University Press edition, which is a facsimile based on the Yuan Dynasty Zhishun era block-printed edition.
Volume 1 of the book contains diagnostic pulse charts and discussions on the four injuries of wind, cold, summer heat, and dampness; volumes 2 to 7 list the treatment content for cold-damage disease and miscellaneous diseases; volume 8 is "Nanyang Huoren Shu Cold-Damage Disease Collection of Essential Formulas"; volumes 9 to 10 are "Heji Ju Miscellaneous Diseases Collection of Essential Formulas"; volumes 11 to 14 compile the empirical formulas of various physicians from the Song and Yuan periods; volumes 15 to 17 discuss gynecological treatments; volumes 18 to 19 discuss obstetric treatments; volume 20 contains pediatric treatments, including "Quanying Zongyao"; volume 21 discusses orthopedics and traumatology treatments.
The book uses diagrammatic comparisons to discuss the pulse, disease, syndrome, and treatment of the two major syndromes, "cold-damage disease" and "miscellaneous diseases", and elaborates on them with the theory of three causes. The outline is clear and understandable. In the section on orthopedics and traumatology, it records various fractures, dislocations, reduction methods, splint fixation techniques, and several medical instruments and formulas. Among these, the pioneering overextension method for treating lumbar fractures enriches the diagnostic and treatment experience in trauma orthopedics.
