This book, in one volume, was written by Li Xun of the Song Dynasty in the second year of Qingyuan (1196). The Li family had a tradition of accumulating prescriptions to help others, and the family passed down over a hundred prescriptions for back gangrene. Li Xun selected those that had been used and proven effective, compiling them into the Jiyan Beiju Fang for publication. The original text has long been lost, and the current version was extracted from the Yongle Encyclopedia. The main existing versions include the Complete Library of the Four Treasuries edition, the Shiwanjuanlou Series, and the Sansan Medical Books edition. In 1930, the Shanghai Traditional Medicine Publishing House printed a lead-type edition in the "Small Series of Traditional Medicine." In 1991, the Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House produced a photolithographic edition based on the Wenyuan Pavilion Complete Library of the Four Treasuries. The

Jiyan Beiju Fang is concise and refined in content, with discussions as the framework and prescriptions as the details, combining theory and practice. It briefly discusses the origins of Yongju, differentiation of internal and external symptoms, principles of medication, prognosis, precautions, as well as the main treatments and prescriptions from the initial stage to the healing stage. The book contains over 20 prescriptions, all of which are simple, easy to obtain, and highly effective, making it particularly beneficial for those living in remote areas with limited access to medical care or for those who are too poor to afford medicine.
