"Yin" (陰), shade, concealment; "shi" (市), market, refers to stomach.Suwen-Cijin Lun: "Stomach is like market", Leijing Zhang Jing-yue note: "Stomach receives water and grains, it contains everything, so it is called the market." The point belongs to foot yangming stomach meridian (ST), hence the name.
