bubble_chart Etymology

"Da" (大), big, refers to thumb; "gu" (骨), bone; "kong" (空), space. This acupoint is located in the joint space between two bones of thumb, hence the name.

On dorsal side of thumb, at the midpoint of interphalangeal joint.

This point was mentioned in Beiji Jiufa (Emergency Moxibustion Methods) but without a name. It was later named "Dagukong" in Bian Que Shenying Zhenjiu Yulongjing (Bian Que's Divine Response: Jade Dragon Acupuncture Classic).
