Yang, the yang of yin-yang; Wei, to maintain. This acupoint is located on the back of the ear, a region associated with yang; it is also on the connecting band between the head and the auricle, hence the name.

Located on the inner side of the auricle at the root of the temporal region, level with the anterior notch of the tragus. When the auricle is pulled forward, the point is where the taut tendon appears at the root of the auricle.
