"You" (幽), hidden or secluded; "men" (門), gate or portal. The point is located near pylorus (the lower opening of stomach) and is associated with it, hence the name.

In upper abdomen, 6 cun above umbilicus (Juque (CV14)) and 0.5 cun lateral to midline.

  • Muscle: medial edge of rectus abdominis. (The deep layer is liver)
  • Nerve: seventh intercostal nerve.
  • Vessels: branches of the superior and inferior epigastric arteries and veins.

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 cun. Avoid deep insertion. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 5 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Classical: pain radiating between chest, ribs, and back, nausea, vomiting, excessive salivation, difficulty swallowing food, frequent belching, fullness in limbs, hardness in lower abdomen, heart pain, counterflow of qi, and irritability.
  • Modern: gastric spasm, gastroptosis, intercostal neuralgia.
