Behind the thigh, 1 cun above the popliteal crease, in the depression of the medial edge of the biceps femoris, 1 cun above the Weiyang (BL39).

  • Muscle: medial to the biceps femoris tendon.
  • Nerves: posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, common peroneal nerve.
  • Vessels: lateral arteries and veins above the knee.

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 cun. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 5 minutes, moxibustion with moxa stick for 5 to 10 minutes.

Soothe muscles and clear away heat.

  • Classical: heat in the lower abdomen, hard stool, indolence of the femoral hub, muscle cramp, not allowed to lie down, and carbuncle in the femoral area.
  • Modern: gastrocnemius spasm, bladder inflammation.
