"Mei" (眉), eyebrow; "chong" (衝), to go straight upward. The point is located directly above the medial end of eyebrow, entering hairline, hence the name.

On head, directly above Zanzhu (BL2) , entering the anterior hairline by 0.5 cun, betweenShenting (GV24) and Qucha (BL4), 0.5 cun lateral to Shenting (GV24).

  • Muscle: frontalis.
  • Nerve: medial branch of frontal nerve of trigeminal nerve.
  • Vessels: frontal artery and vein.

Subcutaneous insertion 0.3~1 cun along skin. Moxibustion is prohibited.

Dispel wind, unblock orifice, clear mind.

  • Classical: headache, nasal congestion, vertigo, epilepsy, red and swollen eyes.
  • Modern: eyelid twitching, eyelid ptosis, conjunctivitis, trigeminal neuralgia.
