bubble_chart Etymology

"Qian" (前), front; "gu" (谷), valley. The acupoint is located in the depression in front of the small finger's metacarpophalangeal joint, hence the name.

On the ulnar side of little finger, in front of small finger's base joint (5th metacarpophalangeal joint) at the border of the red and white flesh. When making a fist, it is at the ulnar end of palmar crease.

  • Lingshu-Benshu: "In the depression in front of the base joint on the outer side of hand";
  • Zhenfang Liuji: "On the outer side of small finger, in front of the base joint, behind the next joint, in the depression of transverse crease, obtained by making a fist".

  • Nerve: palmar proper nerve of ulnar nerve and dorsal digital nerve.
  • Vessels: dorsal arteries and veins.

Insert perpendicularly toward the palm side 0.3~0.5 cun. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 5 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Classical: cough, chest fullness, pain in elbow, arm and wrist, elbow spasm, headache, swollen and stiff neck, swollen throat, eye pain with tearing, postpartum lack of lactation, febrile disease without sweating, epilepsy, malaria, tinnitus, eye nebula, epistaxis, nasal congestion with yellow discharge, swollen jaw, pharyngitis, consumptive jaundice, reddish and difficult urination, numbness, itchy or painful finger, breast abscess.
