bubble_chart Etymology

"Shao" (少) , small; "ze" (澤), water marsh or lake, indicating acupoint. This point is located at the tip of finger and is jing-well point of hand taiyang small intestine meridian (SI). The meridian qi emerges here in a small and delicate form, and it is positioned alongside Shaochong (HT9), hence the name.

On the ulnar side of distal segment of little finger, approximately 1 fen away from the corner of nail.

  • Lingshu-Benshu: "At the tip of little finger";
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "In the depression one fen from the corner of fingernail" ;
  • Qianjin Yaofang: "On the outside of the tip of little finger"; that is, a depression located 1 fen behind the ulnar corner of little finger's nail.

  • Nerve: palmar proper nerve of ulnar nerve and dorsal digital nerve.
  • Vessels: the arterial network formed by proper palmar artery and dorsal digital artery.

Puncture shallowly 0.2 to 0.3 cun. Moxibustion with moxa stick for 10 to 15 minutes.

Clear heat, benifit pharynx, promote lactation.

  • Classical: chills and fever without sweating, headache, shivering with cold, pharyngitis, tongue stiffness and curling, heat in mouth with irritability, heart pain, shortness of breath, pain in chest and hypochondrium, cough, spasm and convulsion, jaundice, epistaxis, pain along inner side of arm, breast swelling, postpartum agalactia, malaria, stroke, depressive psychosis, ocular nebula, deafness, strong stiffness and inability to speak, stiff neck, immobility of little finger, dry throat, hematemesis, wind phlegm.
  • Modern: insufficient lactation, mastitis, schizophrenia, forearm pain, coma.
